​​Pittsburgh, PA -  The Arkhaios Film Festival is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology

Conference and Film Festival that will take place October 5-7, 2018, at the Frick Fine Arts Building, Schenley Drive, Pittsburgh, PA.


The festival will offer lectures and screen films Friday October 5 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Saturday October 6 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and Sunday October 7 from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.












Arkhaios Film Festival is in its sixth year of operations presenting a yearly juried film competition “The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeological Film Festival” in South Carolina.  The Archaeological Gems of Pittsburgh, now in its third year, will celebrate Archaeology Month by hosting, each day of the festival, presentations by representatives from the University of Pittsburgh students and faculties, on their on-going archaeological work throughout the region. Award-winning Films documenting archaeological and cultural projects from around the world from this year’s Arkhaios Film Festival will follow the presentations.

 The Archaeological Gems of Pittsburgh is affiliated with the Department of Anthropology of the University of Pittsburgh, which is sponsoring this event. Other sponsors include Alpha Graphics, the Allegheny Chapter #1 and the Ohio Valley Chapter #22 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. The Festival is grateful for their support. 


With the support of our sponsors, the Festival is open to the public free of charge. There is no seat reservation. Seating is limited, and on a first come first served basis.

The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Events corporation is a non-profit organization producing the Arkhaios Film Festival in South Carolina, and the Conference and Film Festival in Pittsburgh, PA.

The multi-day Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival is an annual juried competition, part of the annual South Carolina Archaeology Month. It is free, open to the public, and is an educational event showcasing the discovery of past cultures gained from archaeological research and illustrated by documentary films.

The Arkhaios Film Festival is sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Heritage Trust, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA), the Department of Anthropology, University of South Carolina, the Greater Piedmont Chapter of The Explorers Club, and the Richmond Library Main in Columbia, SC.

6th Annual Arkhaios Film Festival
A Rich Tapestry of World Cultures

Schedule and Location Announced


 Pittsburgh, PA -  The Arkhaios Film Festival is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival that will take place October 12-14, 2018, at  the Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.


The festival will screen films Friday October 12 from 9:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday October 13 from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and Sunday October 14 from 2:15pm to 5:30pm. 

The films are scheduled as follows:




















The Heritage Trust Program of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA), the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Carolina, The Greater Piedmont Chapter of The Explorers Club, and the Richland Library Main are proud to bring the Arkhaios Film Festival to the theater of the Richland Library Main, located in downtown Columbia, SC.

With the support of our sponsors, the Festival is open to the public free of charge. There is no seat reservation. Seating is limited, and on a first come first served basis.
